Which Inflator to choose and when to replace it?

A few words about the inflator, also known as the gas generator:

  • Inflators can be ordered from the Shop section of our website or from an authorized dealer.
  • To learn more about the replacement of the inflator and the rearming of the airbag after a fall, please refer to the article "What to do after the airbag has inflated?".

Which inflator reference should you choose?

Warning! There are two types of Inflators, depending on your airbag product model. Several methods are available to determine the compatible Inflator reference for your product:

The serial number of the airbag system

  • Go to the Shop.
  • Enter the serial number of your airbag system. It is located on the white label inside your product and takes the form 00000000-00000.
  • The compatible Inflator reference for your airbag product will be displayed.

The used or present inflator in your product

The reference of your inflator is located at the top right on the white label.

  • Inflator IMI 2368

  • If the connector has a white cable and the inflator connector is black, your airbag product is compatible with the Inflator reference IMI 7112.

The reference of your inflator may also be indicated on the label located on the connector cable.

What is the expiration date of my inflator?

To check the expiration date of the inflator, refer to the date indicated on its label:

  • If the date is 2027 or earlier, your inflator is still usable for 6 additional years. For example, if the date on your inflator is 12/2025, then the expiration date of your Inflator is 12/2031. Find the official document at the end of the article confirming the extension of your inflator’s lifespan to 10 years!
  • If the date is 2033 or later, the expiration date of the inflator is the date indicated on the label.

Attention, a reminder of some simple usage rules:

  • An inflator is single-use only, after inflation it cannot be recharged and must be recycled as metal after use.
  • To be used with the In&motion airbag system only. Only inflators supplied by In&motion (ref IMI 2368 and IMI 7112) are certified and ensure the proper functioning of the airbag system.
  • Handle it with care. Do not drop it.
  • Do not place your fingers on the connector located under the inflator (blue or black part).
  • Never plug in the connector before screwing in the inflator.
  • Do not throw away a full inflator or one that has never been triggered.
  • Carefully read the detailed instructions in the User Manual provided with your airbag product.
  • The expiration date of the inflator is indicated on its label.

To check if the inflator is empty or full, insert the powered In&box into its slot:

  • If the LED (indicator light) of the inflator is green, the inflator is full

  • If the LED (indicator light) of the inflator is red, the inflator is empty or poorly connected: your airbag is therefore not functional.
