How to replace my inflator after airbag inflation?

After inflation, the airbag system is reusable. You simply need to replace the Inflator (gas cartridge) and follow the post-inflation procedure below to ensure that your airbag system is not damaged.

Once inflated, the pressure in the airbag pocket will slowly decrease. However, the airbag will remain inflated to prevent any risk after a fall. On the In&box, the "Inflator" LED (indicator light) at the top left turns red: indicating that the Inflator is empty or malfunctioning.

To correctly recharge the In&motion airbag system, go to the dashboard of the "My In&box" app and click on the tab at the top right as shown in the image. Then, follow the 4 detailed recharge steps on the screen.

Some warnings regarding the Inflator before starting the procedure:

  • Warning: Only Inflators provided by IN&MOTION (references: IMI 2368 or IMI 7112) are certified and ensure the proper functioning of the IN&MOTION airbag system. Never use other references.
  • Handle with care. Do not drop it.
  • Do not place your fingers on the connector at the end of the inflator (blue or black part depending on the inflator).
  • Never connect the connector before screwing in the inflator.

1. Check the integrity of the airbag product and plastic parts

  • It should not have holes, tears, broken threads, or signs of abrasion. The plastic parts should not have any whitening areas.
  • Check that the back protection is not damaged (no holes or tears).

2. Remove the used inflator

Warning: The inflator may be hot after inflation.

Be careful, the inflator should be handled with care! Perform these operations in a clean, dry place and wash your hands before and after replacing the inflator.

  • Remove the In&box from the case and access the Inflator by opening the zipper located at the back of the airbag product at the level of the back protector.
  • Unclip the Inflator from its housing upwards. To do this, pull the Inflator upwards to remove it from its housing.

Be careful not to force or pull on the cable or connector, as this may damage it.

  • Using a pump or compressor, inflate the airbag product to 0.3 bars and check that it does not deflate within 5 seconds. Any tire inflation system, such as those available at gas stations, can be used.
  • While the airbag product is inflated, check for any signs of tearing, and ensure that the seams are not coming apart. If it does not inflate or deflates quickly, do not use your airbag product and contact your local dealer.
  • Disconnect the inflation system, unscrew the inflation adapter, and release all the air from the airbag pocket.

4. Install the new inflator

Warning: There are two types of inflators, depending on your airbag product model.
