How do I configure my Wi-Fi access point?

Setting up the Wi-Fi hotspot allows the In&box to automatically connect to a Wi-Fi network as soon as it is charging. This connection will enable you to regularly benefit from all the updates.

Connecting at least once a year (and once a month in the case of a monthly subscription) is crucial; otherwise, the In&box will be automatically blocked and will no longer function until the next connection.

Configure my Wi-Fi hotspot via the My In&box app

From the first use, set up your Wi-Fi hotspot using the My In&box mobile app. Turn on the In&box and connect it to the app, then follow these steps:

  • Go to the "Wi-Fi Synchronization" tab at the bottom right of the screen and click on "Configure a Wi-Fi network".
  • Add your Wi-Fi hotspot: The app will search for nearby Wi-Fi hotspots. Select yours and enter the corresponding password.

Once configured, you can start synchronization by clicking the blue button at the bottom of the screen. The In&box will also connect to the configured Wi-Fi hotspot as soon as it is plugged in and charging from the mains, and will automatically download the latest updates.

You can configure up to 3 different Wi-Fi hotspots.

To add another Wi-Fi hotspot:

  • Go to the "My Equipment" tab at the bottom right of the screen, click "See" in the "My Equipment" section, then click "Add" in the "Wi-Fi" section.
  • Add your new Wi-Fi hotspot: The app will search for nearby Wi-Fi hotspots. Select yours and enter the corresponding password.

Currently compatible Wi-Fi hotspots are: Wi-Fi b/g/n with WPA/WPA2/WEP protection.

If you have a firmware version lower than 5.1.5 (find your In&box version in the Settings menu of your app), Wi-Fi hotspots with WEP protection and without a password were not compatible. Therefore, you will need to download the latest update for your In&box before you can configure your WEP key Wi-Fi hotspot.

Manually configure my Wi-Fi hotspot

If you do not have a phone compatible with the "My In&box" mobile app, you can still set up your Wi-Fi hotspot on the In&box by following the manual procedure on your computer.

For this procedure, you only need your airbag system, the charged In&box, your computer, and the USB cable provided with the In&box.

Warning, this procedure must be performed using a Firefox or Google Chrome browser.

  • Log in to your user account and then go to your dashboard.
  • Click "Follow the detailed manual procedure here."

If the In&box is not yet activated

  • Click "Start" and follow the procedure from start to finish.

If the In&box is already activated

  • You do not need to follow steps 1 to 5, start directly from step 6 "Enter your Wi-Fi network name".

Step 1: Enter the serial number of your In&motion airbag system

Located on the last label inside the airbag product (be sure to enter the number corresponding to In&motion).

Step 2: Enter the serial number of the In&box

Located on the label on the back of the In&box and starts with 54 or 63. Click "Validate" and download the activation file. Warning, do not rename this file and ensure it does not contain any () or digits (e.g., token.imu(1)).

Step 3: Turn on the In&box and connect it to your computer

Using the USB cable. A folder should appear with files.

Step 4: Drag and drop the activation file

Once the In&box is connected to your computer, drag and drop the activation file you just downloaded and place it in the root directory of the In&box, meaning directly in the opened folder of the In&box. (Make sure to drop the file directly in this folder and not to open other available folders).

Step 5: Disconnect the In&box

The two blue LEDs indicate activation. If an error occurs, it is signaled by three successive red blinks.

Step 6: Enter the name of your Wi-Fi network

Enter the name of your Wi-Fi network, as well as the security key (or connection key). This information is not transmitted to our servers.

Be sure to enter your Wi-Fi network key as indicated on your Wi-Fi box (including uppercase letters).

Click on "Validate" and download the configuration file. Be careful not to rename this file and ensure it does not contain parentheses or numbers (e.g., wifi.cfg(1)).

Step 7: Turn on the In&box and connect it to your computer using the USB cable

A folder should appear with files.

Step 8: Drag and drop the configuration file

Once the In&box is connected to your computer, drag and drop the configuration file you just downloaded and place it in the root directory of the In&box, meaning directly in the opened folder of the In&box. (Make sure to drop the file directly in this folder and not to open other available folders).

Step 9: Disconnect the In&box

The two blue LEDs indicate the configuration process. If an error occurs, it is indicated by three successive red blinks.

  • The two upper LEDs blink blue alternately: the In&box is trying to connect to your Wi-Fi access point.
  • The two upper LEDs blink blue simultaneously: the synchronization and update procedure is in progress.

Be careful not to turn off the In&box when the LEDs are blue!

Check the configuration of my Wi-Fi access point

Now, you can check that your Wi-Fi is properly configured:

  • Turn on the In&box
  • Plug it in near your Wi-Fi access point using the supplied USB cable and a charger (not supplied). Make sure to plug it into a wall outlet and not via USB.
  • The two upper LEDs blink blue alternately: the In&box is searching for Wi-Fi.
  • The two upper LEDs blink blue simultaneously: synchronization and/or update is in progress. This means the configuration has worked!
  • The update will occur at the right time: either by leaving your In&box plugged in or when you unplug your In&box. At this moment, the two upper LEDs will blink blue simultaneously and more quickly. An update can take up to 2 minutes.

Note: the In&box can be unplugged at any time, but be careful not to turn it off using the side switch during synchronization (two blue upper LEDs).
