How does the Liberty Rider emergency call work?

Warning: this feature is available only for French, French-speaking Belgian, and Italian In&members with a French, Belgian, or Italian phone number.

After an accident, it is not always easy to access your phone. This is why Liberty Rider and In&motion have developed an automatic emergency call activation system triggered by the deployment of the airbag. An effective and reliable assistance system.

When the airbag deploys, the "My In&box" app will automatically activate and start the 4-step alert procedure:

  • An alarm sounds on your phone: The Liberty Rider alarm will sound for 2 minutes, giving you time to collect yourself and inform of your condition. On this screen, you can either confirm that you are fine or directly call 112.
  • Liberty Rider is alerted: If no action is taken within these 2 minutes, the location and all necessary information will be sent to Inter Mutuelles Assistance, a dedicated organization providing assistance to people in distress (IMA, available 24/7).
  • IMA will contact you 3 times: To ensure that intervention is necessary and to gather all necessary information about the situation.
  • Emergency services intervention: If you are unable to respond or need help, the emergency services will come to the exact location of the accident.

Who informs your loved ones?

We never notify your loved ones of an accident. It is up to the emergency services to decide whether to handle it (or not) directly.

In this article, find answers to all your questions:

Do I need to open the My In&box app before starting my trip?

No, because the detection system (the In&box) automatically connects to the My In&box app as soon as the In&box is turned on. In the event of activation, it will wake up the app itself to start the alert.

However, make sure that your app is properly connected to your In&motion user account.

Do I need to have my phone with me for the emergency call to work?

With or without mobile, the airbag will work.

However, the "Emergency Call" feature will only work if you have your smartphone nearby (within five meters of the airbag).

Is it possible to simulate an accident via the My In&box app?

It is possible to simulate an accident from the My In&box app to learn how the Emergency Call works. Simply click on the "Emergency Call" tile on the app dashboard, then click on "Simulate an Accident."

Rest assured, no real alert will be sent during this test.

Does the "Emergency Call" feature use a lot of battery?

Battery consumption is optimized so that the app only uses power when the airbag deploys, which is when the alert is triggered.

However, it is advised not to have a very low battery.

Additionally, we recommend not putting your phone in power-saving mode, as this could affect the proper functioning of the emergency call.

Will the alert be triggered even if my phone is in silent mode?

Even if you are in silent mode, the Liberty Rider emergency call alarm will take precedence and will sound for 2 minutes before notifying IMA.

Does the emergency call work with track mode?

No, the emergency call is disabled in track mode, and the mobile app will indicate "Incompatible Mode."

Does the emergency call work without mobile network and mobile data?

  • For the emergency call to work, the phone must have access to the mobile network from your carrier (if there is no mobile network, it is as if the phone is in airplane mode).
  • The phone must also have access to mobile data (3G, 4G...), regardless of signal strength.

Do I need to activate Bluetooth for every trip?

On your mobile, the following three features must be enabled for the emergency call to work:

  • Mobile data (3G, 4G...)
  • Location services
  • Bluetooth

Does the emergency call work if my phone is far from my airbag?

The In&box (inserted on the back of the airbag vest) and the My In&box app are connected via Bluetooth, so the phone should not be too far from the airbag system for the alert to be properly triggered (ideally, the phone should be within five meters of the airbag).

Can I launch a GPS app via my phone while using the emergency call?

Yes, you can use a GPS app on your phone while using the Liberty Rider emergency call via the My In&box app.

However, this is not mandatory, as your GPS position is recorded by the In&box inserted in the back of your airbag vest. If the GPS of your In&box is not activated, the alert will be triggered, and the last recorded GPS position will be transferred. You can directly contact 112 via your phone screen.

Can I use an intercom while using the emergency call?

You can use a connected Bluetooth intercom (music, calls, etc.). During an accident and airbag deployment, the alert will be triggered, and the alarm will sound through the standard audio output of the intercom.

Do I need to download the Liberty Rider app to benefit from the emergency call?

The feature is directly included in the My In&box app, so it is not necessary to have the Liberty Rider app to benefit from the emergency call.

Can I use the Liberty Rider emergency call on the My In&box app and the Liberty Rider app simultaneously?

If both apps are active, both can operate in parallel. In case of an accident, since the detection strategies are different, the alert might be triggered by either one or both simultaneously.

This is not a problem, as IMA will manage the request and alert the emergency services only once.
