An In&motion airbag system consists of two separate elements:
- The airbag product: the vest (or garment) equipped with the inflatable airbag that you wear.
- The In&box: the electronic unit inserted into the vest. It analyses your movements, detects falls and triggers the inflation of the airbag.
These two elements are subject to different rules when resold.
The airbag product (vest) can always be freely bought or sold second-hand between private individuals.
The In&box (unit) can only be sold with the vest if the seller owns it, meaning that they chose the Classic plan (purchase of the In&box). If the seller chose the Revolution plan (monthly or annual subscription), the In&box is rented: it remains the property of In&motion and cannot be resold unless the seller purchases it beforehand (see below).
What does the change of ownership include?
The change of ownership includes the transfer of the main mode as well as any additional modes, provided that the latter were purchased by the previous owner.
Example 1: additional mode purchased
The seller chose Road mode as the main mode, then purchased Track mode as an additional mode. When resold, the buyer receives the In&box with both modes: Road and Track.
Example 2: additional mode included in a subscription
The seller chose Road mode as the main mode and subscribed to Track mode as an additional mode on a monthly or annual basis. When resold, only the main Road mode is transferred. Track mode is not included because it had not been purchased.
How can you find out which plan the seller chose (Classic or Revolution)?
The seller can check their plan by logging in to their account on the website or in the My In&box app, then going to My account > My membership.
Case 1: the seller has a Revolution plan (rented In&box)
The seller has two options.
Option A: they switch to the Classic plan before the sale (recommended).
The seller can switch to the Classic plan themselves from their personal account. They then become the owner of the In&box and can sell the entire system (vest + In&box) without returning anything to In&motion. The transfer process then continues as described in case 2.
Option B: they cancel their subscription and sell only the vest.
The seller cancels their monthly or annual subscription at the end of their commitment period, then returns the In&box to In&motion for the cancellation to take effect. In this case, you are buying only the vest, without the In&box. For your airbag system to work, you must create your own account, subscribe to the plan of your choice and order a new In&box:
- Click Membership.
- Select the plan and options of your choice.
Click “Yes, add to my basket” so that we can send you an In&box.
- Enter your account information.
- Enter your payment details, then click Subscribe to complete your membership.
Case 2: the seller has a Classic plan (purchased In&box)
Each In&box is linked to a user account. To have the In&box transferred into your name, you must contact us and tell us that you are the new owner of the vest and the In&box. The change of ownership is carried out manually by our teams.
Please send us:
- your first and last name;
- your email address;
- your postal address;
- your telephone number.
Once the change has been made:
- You will receive an email containing your personal login details.
- Download the My In&box mobile app and log in with these details.
- Turn on the In&box and connect it to the app to transfer the change of ownership to it.
You should also read our article on how the In&box works.
Precautions before buying
Check the number of times the vest has been inflated. Depending on the model, the airbag vest is designed to withstand a maximum of 3, 5 or 8 inflations, depending on the airbag vest model. Before buying, make sure that it is in good condition and has not exceeded this number. The product user manual specifies the applicable limit.
Request a service before the sale. We strongly recommend that the seller have the vest fully serviced before transferring it, to ensure its integrity. This service must follow the instructions in the user manual.
Warranties
- Airbag vest: the warranty terms in the event of a second-hand purchase are specified in the product’s user manual.
- In&box: The In&box warranty is limited to 2 years from the date of purchase (in the event that the In&box was purchased) and remains attached to its original user.
